Time for Tea

Tea is a wonderful thing!  Can't get enough slack?  Drink more tea and at least you'll feel a bit better about it.  As a good number of fellow SubGeniuns with be from the United States, I thought it would be useful to add instruction s on making the perfect cuppa.  We may not be able to make a good cup of coffee over here in Great Britain, but we do know tea!

To make the perfect cup for one.

1.  Take a good sized mug and rinse with hot water
2.  Fill kettle/pan with fresh water and bring to boil.
3.  Put a tea-bag into warmed mug.
4.  Take mug to the kettle, not the other way round.
5.  Ensure the water is BOILING and fill the mug.
6.  Give it a stir and leave for 3 minutes?
7.  Remove the bag with a spoon, giving it a squeeze as you do it.
8.  Add milk to taste (I recommend going for a darkish tan colour)
9.  Enjoy with a relaxing sit down.

What is "Christmas" ?

Here we are once again.  A week before Christmas and a fortnight before a whole new year.  I hope people stop and give a thought to the true relevance of this time of year.  Just because the Christians renamed a preexisting festival, many film mistakenly associate this time of year with the birth of Jesus.  Putting aside the issue of whether or not such a person ever existed, there is nothing in the Bible to suggest that he was born at this time of year.

The real festival is about celebrating the shortest day and the start of the trek back to the warmth of spring and summer.  We eat foods that have been preserved since the last harvest and celebrate having survived the first half of a season that still does kill the most vulnerable in society.

I hope people remembered the true meaning of what we now call Christmas and resist the message put forward by those who wish to pervert it for their own ends.

Winters Thoughts

At first the left was right,
And now the right is leftish also,
But the middle is always that,
Except on alternate Wednesdays.

The North is sometimes late,
Waiting for his friend the currents,
Who are in turn,
Notoriously bad time keepers.

When all is considered,
We come to one,
Inevitable conclusion,
This is true no matter what,
Even at Christmas.

If Time Flies, Let's Walk

Time.  How much of it do we have?  What do with it when we do have it?  Why do we waste so much of it?  What would with do with it all if we could save it up?  What was there before there was time?  Will it ever run out?

Well, that has aired a few questions about time that some of you may have had.  It is good to get these things out in the open.  I hope I have put some minds at rest out there.

Dont let them do it!

Don't let who do what?  Well, I have been reading some of the coverage of the upcoming American Presidential election and it worries me.  The number of times that faith and religion have been mentioned makes you wonder if the Church and State have, secretly, become one and the same thing?  Change the name of the religion involved and it would sound like an election in one of the countries invaded by USA during  the last decade or two.

That's without my concerns that anyone able to get enough rich people to support their campaign should, by definition be excluded at once from taking part.

Whilst I have nothing at all against individual Mormons, to be one does take a rather gullible attitude towards faith.  Even the internal consistency is wrong.  It's not like you have to consult other sources to realise that it was written by a very human hand for their own purpose.

Where will all this end?  Who knows, but I'm glad that I don't have to live in the home of the "free"!
